Day 27 - Denim Owl

Holy crap, I am terrible at this.  I'm sorry, Internet.  Here, have some Denim Owl as an apology.

And if anyone has one of those awesome old Mercedes in impeccable condition like in the video, I'll take it off your hands.

A Pitchfork link to the MP3, because the song doesn't exist on YouTube.

Day 25 - Perturbator

I first heard of Perturbator about eight months ago via the delicious soundtrack of Hotline Miami. I loved the whole thing, but the Perturbator tracks did, for the most part, stand out a little above the others. So I thoroughly enjoyed those delightful throwbacks to juicy 80s synths, and moved on with my life.

Then, last weekend, I came across the video for Desire (linked below). Then I saw he had a Bandcamp site. Then I spent ALL WEEK listening to his latest album, I Am The Night. It is SO GOOD. GIVE HIM MONEY. I did, and YOU SHOULD TOO.

Day 496... or Day 22, depending on how you're counting - Playground / Opale

Hey everyone, ScootTunes is back.  At least for now, and despite the fact that nobody really calls me Scoot anymore.  Knowing me, I will probably bail again in a few weeks, but I'm going to give it another shot.  This time with way less writing, because spending the amount of time on each post was pretty ridiculous.  So I may just post the videos with little else, if that's what works. And I may not post every day, but I'll do what I can. But either way, you all get sweet music again, which is all that matters.

Today, we have one band with two names: Playground and Opale.

Day 21 - Hole

Being that I'll be back in Seattle today, I thought it fitting to post something from the place I now call home. Now, I know, Hole isn't from Seattle. But the song most definitely is.

Now Hole's a solid band in their own right. Think what you will of Courtney Love, the band had talent. In fact, I changed my mind. I wasn't going to add a Hole song to this post, but I'm going to now, at the end, cause they deserve it.

Back to my original thought though. Back in 1995, less than a year after Kurt Cobain died, Hole appeared on MTV's Unplugged. They performed a song that sent chills up my spine, a cover of the then-unreleased "You Know You're Right" (as "You've Got No Right"), written by Love's late husband. It's like you can hear all of that pain she felt, spilling out of her lungs as she sings. I'll take this version any day over the original that wasn't released until over seven years later.
